Marcus Garvey School strictly enforces attendance and tardy policies as part of our educational philosophy. Pupils are excused if absent because of illness. Absences are considered unexcused if it is not related to illness, medical appointment, or religious holiday. Children should not be sent to school when they are not feeling well. They will be given ample time to make up work that is missed. If a child is tardy, he/she must check in through the front office before being admitted to class. Frequent tardiness without a valid excuse is considered truancy under the law.
